The first paper and glass factories are established

The foundations of the First İzmit Paper and Cardboard Factory and Paşabahçe Bottle and Glass Factory were laid following a groundbreaking ceremony on August 14, 1934. The first ceremony was held for the paper factory to be established in İzmit. Arriving in İstanbul aboard the Ertuğrul afterwards, İsmet İnönü joined the groundbreaking ceremony of the bottle and glass factory to be built in Paiabahçe by ?? Bankası.

Prime Minister İnönü highlighted the importance of banks in the founding of industrial enterprises as follows in his speech:

It is very important for national institutions to invest capital in the establishment of industrial enterprises. The creation of factories through the support of national banks is very constructive. We fully support and endorse this contribution. The government will always support such endeavors.

Sailing out from Paşabahçe to Zonguldak aboard Gülcemal, İnönü broke ground for the Anthracite Factory of Zonguldak the next day and inaugurated the Coal Washing Factory.
