The Second İsmet Pasha Council of Ministers is formed

Following the establishment of the Grand National Assembly on April 24, 1920, a Provisional Execution Council of 6 members was created and five Cabinet Councils served until the proclamation of the Republic. After the Republic was established, President Mustafa Kemal charged Malatya Deputy İsmet Pasha with the task of forming the new government.

The First İsmet Pasha Minister of Councils (Cabinet) İsmet Pasha formed served between October 30, 1923 and March 6, 1924. Following the abolition of the Caliphate and, by extension, the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Pious Foundations, İsmet Pasha withdrew from his post for a new cabinet to be created. President Mustafa Kemal once again asked İsmet Pasha to form a new government. The Second İsmet Pasha Minister of Councils thus came to life by 145 unanimous votes in the vote of confidence taken on March 6, 1924.

Upon the request of President Mustafa Kemal, İsmet Pasha resigned from his post as prime minister on November 8, 1924 once Terakkiperver Cumhuriyet Fırkası (The Progressive Republican Party), founded as the opposition party, began conducting its extreme opposition to the Presidency over the government.
