The one and only daughter of the İnönü family is born

Özden was born on February 7, 1930 in Ankara as the only daughter and last child of Mevhibe and İsmet İnönü.

After graduating from Ankara High School for Girls, Özden İnönü completed her undergraduate studies at the Department of English Language and Literature at Ankara University’s School of Letters. She married journalist Metin Toker in 1955 and had three children: Nurperi, Gülsün, and Güçlü. Of her children, Gülsün Bilgehan is former deputy for CHP.

In order to uphold the memory of her father İsmet İnönü, collect and preserve his documents and personal effects, offer them to the use of researchers, and pass them onto future generations, Özden Toker cofounded the İnönü Foundation on February 22, 1983 and became the president of the foundation after her mother’s death. Presided by Özden Toker today, the İnönü Foundation opens semiannual exhibitions at Pembe Kök (Pink Pavilion) to introduce children and youngsters in particular to the history of the Republic and organizes various meetings, exhibitions, panels, and concerts at universities across different regions of Turkey.
