“The principles of Atatürk are set on a solid base”
A guest on the TRT program “Atatürk’ü Anlatıyorlar” (Recounting Atatürk) in 1971, CHP leader İsmet İnönü made the following comments on the principles of Atatürk on TV:
We have realized reforms of monumental scale in less than the anticipated time. I must therefore say that the principles of Atatürk have been put to a test. They have proven their strength despite all attacks. After political life began abusing opposition to reforms as an easy way to make money and earn votes, Atatürk’s reforms have been exposed to a test of strength and resistance.
The principles of Atatürk are set on a solid base. They have maintained their roots within the army thus far. The extreme right has tried to infiltrate the army and remove these roots, but to no avail.
